Inspiring gifted children to discover, develop and celebrate their intelligence and creativity.
Talent Challenge Week
Being held during Gifted Awareness Week June 18th-24th
Posted 18 May 2012
Students at each centre throughout the country have identified "challenges" that they wish to complete that showcase their extraordinary talents and gifts. Whether it is completing 150 math problems in an hour, creating a new eco-friendly house or painting a mural in a public space, these challenges will give our children a chance to show what gifted children are capable of.
We will be updating the progress of our challenges in the lead up to Talent Challenge Week in the following places:
- on the Everyday Hero blog http://www.everydayhero.co.nz/gifted_kids_live_your_dream. On this page you can find the challenges being held by each participating Gifted Kids class.
- on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/GiftedKidsProgramme
There will also be a surprise preview challenge taking place on June 16th so watch this space!!
Please help support Gifted Kids by donating to one of the challenges and help raise awareness of Gifted Kids and gifted education in New Zealand.

After the Conference...

Gifted Kids had a strong presence at the GiftEDnz conference held in Wellington in March. Staff and students were well represented leading 11 presentations, and our display table was well attended. We are so proud of our staff and students - they did an amazing job!

NZ Gifted Awareness Week 2012
will be celebrated from June 18th-24th to draw attention to our gifted children and the nature of giftedness. Gifted Kids is getting involved by having our first ever Talent Challenge Week. We aim to raise awareness of Gifted Kids as a charitable trust and gifted education in general in our regions. We also wish to showcase how amazing our children are and to allow them opportunities to share their talents and gifts, as well as raising funds for Gifted Kids.
Gifted Kids will be hosting “Live Your Dream” activities where children at all Gifted Kids classrooms throughout the country will be taking part by completing ‘challenges’ that show case their talents.
First fundraising venture
The Wellington Gifted Kids Alumni are having their first fundraising venture to raise a student hardship scholarship.

On the 20th of April as many Wellington Gifted Kids Alumni as we can gather are going to challenge ourselves to a technology free day- no phones!, no computers!- no tvs- no games ahhhhhhh. With this challenge we hope to show that there are many times gifted kids struggle to be heard and to communicate in our communities and that we do have lots to offer if only people would let us develop and utilize our strengths. The funds we raise will go towards a student scholarship for a current student to attend Gifted Kids and this will be the FIRST scholarship created by an Alumni group, so with your help, we hope to reach our goal. Join the team here.
